VISION PANELS QUESTIONS AND ANSWERS
Q) What is a Vision Panel and what will DT’S Core Range be? – A) A Vision Panel is a triple glazed unit. Fixed Glass on the outside/inside the middle unit moves up and down to offer privacy on the panel.
Q) What is the area of View? – A) 30% into the room north, south, east, and west.
Q) Can we provide a larger view area? – A) Yes, special order we can virtually double the view area to nearly 60%
Q) What will our Range offer be? – A) 402 x 402 and 802 x 252 in NON and 30 minute Fire Door units.
Q) What is the Cut out in the door? (Note these are nearly always prepped in the Joinery Factory) – A) An extra 6 MM, so 402 x 402 becomes 408 x 408 mm.
Q) How is it fitted in the door? – A) Remove the beading/stop on the Corridor side. Take out unit. Place against bead stop. Replace corridor bead/stop.
Q) Do we supply bead/stop? – A) No, it is normally always supplied and fitted by the Joiner or Maintenance team.
Q) What is our standard size glazed units? – A) 6 mm toughened glass on outside, 4 mm toughened in the middle and 6 mm toughened on the inside. (The FD 30 is Fire
Tested in this format)
Q) Do we do FD 60? – A) Yes special order we need the exact components required to give a price. ((consists of 6 mm Pyran, 4 mm & 6 mm Toughened Glass)
Q) What is the depth of the units? – A) NF & FD 30 are 21 mm and fit in 44 mm doors. FD 60 is 24 mm and sit in 54 mm doors.
Q) How can I check everything is correct on enquiries/quotes? – A) Use the DT Check List to process order. It may be good to get the list Ok’d by the Customer before processing.
Q) What is the lead time? – A) Normal items 7 working days, specials and FD 60’s 4 working weeks max.
Q) Store despatching should I be aware of any safety instructions? – A) YES. THE UNITS MUST BE UPRIGHT AT ALL TIMES. DO NOT LAY DOWN!!!. The etching gets scratched and the privacy aspect is lost and it puts strain on the mechanism. Large RED ARROWS ARE ON THE BOXES SHOWTHIS.
Q) What Is the Test Standard for Glass in Fire Doors? – A) BS476 Part 22
Q) What is the Test Evidence Reference Report Number? – A) Chiltern International Fire Assessment Report “CHILT/A5064.”
Q) Can we do Anti-Microbial Coating on the Levers? – A) Yes our Touch Clean® proven the word over.
Q) Can we do Privacy Blinds? – A) Yes our special Patented System.
Q) What is different about our System? – A) It is self-powered and does not need electricity.
Q) What benefits does that mean? – A) Installation. No chasing out plaster in walls for wires means clean, tidy mess free installing.
Q) Does it have any other benefits? – A) Yes TOTAL PRIVACY. Other units have a small gap at the edge of the frame. This means that if you stand close to the edge you can see into the room. Ours is SCREEN PRINTED right up to the edge so no gap, no invasion of privacy.
Q) Why have Vision Panels? – A) In large Buildings such as Hospitals it is makes good safety practise to be able to see into the room and make sure work colleagues are not in danger. The NHS has several thousand incidents each year. The privacy function offers total control.
